Whispering Pines - Original Pastel

This piece was made as a reminder that the beauty of nature is everywhere, from the dense undergrowth and the granulated dirt, to the highest peaks of the oldest trees. I have always appreciated the contrast of tree canopies against the sky, particularly in my local park where this old growth of pine trees lives. They appear to be whispering amongst themselves, communicating in a language we as humans can't quite comprehend. To capture the essence of their whispering spirit, I used soft pastels on high-quality cold-press paper, and set the piece in place with workable fixative. Every time I see this art on my wall, a wave of serenity washes over me and I am reminded to slow down, breathe deeply, and get outside to listen to the trees.
