Summer Reprieve - Original Watercolor

Painted in a single afternoon on the shady shores of Deer Island, Massachusetts, this piece holds a particularly special place in my heart. It was my first ever plein air watercolor a chance to step outside my usual surroundings and try to capture a landscape exactly as I experienced it.

I remember sitting in the shade on a hot summer day, with a flock of Canadian geese nearby and the harbor stretching out before me. I wasn't entirely sure when I began that I would be able to create something meaningful while working directly from nature, but with patience, focus, and careful observation, the painting slowly came together.

The experience became a reminder that we are often far more capable than we give ourselves credit for. I hope this little piece carries some of that feeling with it, a quiet reminder to trust yourself, try something unfamiliar, and see where it takes you.
